Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and He rested…
Rest for the Christian does not necessarily mean continuous reflection upon God. However, our entertainment and relaxation certainly shouldn’t pull us away from Him! The Lord’s intention is for us to enjoy periodic refreshment from our labor, and yet we tend to digress into a constant search for diversion instead. Good responsibilities are often neglected for the sake of entertainment, and families, relationships, and worthwhile work can suffer as the result of an unwholesome view of relaxation. Scripture instructs the legacy leaver to pursue conformity to Christ, approve beauty and excellence, guard personal contentment, reject earthly and sensual domination, maintain personal labor and creativity, and build edifying relationships. In other words, as we enjoy God-given rest, we ought to do so in a way that God can continue to bless.
