II Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

A non-negotiable for a legacy-leaver is that he or she is unapologetically grounded on the Word of God.  This sounds pretty basic, and it is, and yet our tendency as human beings is to search for the easiest solutions to spiritual problems. There is a certain irony in the fact that we often reject the very simple teaching of God’s Word so that we may pursue simpler solutions offered by society. We flesh this tendency out in our tendency to accept science as a sophisticated substitute for simply obeying the Bible. One clear example of this trend is the embrace of modern psychology and science as applied to raising children, relationship problems, and explaining the depraved nature.  The worldly wisdom of science and psychology relieves humans of personal responsibility and seeks to merely modify behaviors.  However, the Biblical goal of personal sanctification and life-change begins with the premise of a very active and influential sin nature. Truly remarkable help can never come from a human being but only from the Source of mankind. When our legacy is founded and bounded by the Word, our lives can be stable and complete.
