Judges 2:10-12 ...and there arose another generation…which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim. And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

We are one just generation away from losing sight of God, and if we don’t transmit our knowledge of God to the next generation, that relationship is at risk of being lost. The first component of a godly legacy is a compelling conviction that leads each individual to prioritize training up a godly generation. This must be a internalized goal of each mature believer if our followers are to be brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. This conviction does not just apply to parents and grandparents but to all adults of the local church.  Without this compelling conviction, churches will fail to meet the needs of the children and followers their ministry touches. Therefore, a legacy-leaver has a Biblical plan to insure his or her followers turn out to be pleasing to the Lord.
