The acceptance of same-sex marriage in our culture seems to have taken place very rapidly. However, a change this drastic does not take place overnight. American culture has been heavily influenced by entertainment and politics, and many television shows, movies, court cases, and legislation have brought us to a place where the current generation is completely immersed in this issue.  Social and legal pressures have given same-sex marriage a victory in the short term, and yet many social and legal values have also kept same-sex marriage from being acceptable in many civilizations for thousands of years.  Christians must be aware of the past to understand the present and the future, and while the Bible is clear on same-sex relationships, what cultural values limited marriage to heterosexual relationships for so long? This session lays the foundation for understanding why the marriage fence was placed where it was for so long, and why serious thought out to be given to removing that timeless tradition.
